Post 2012 Hunting Season Update

Well, had a blast this season.  Went to the Utah Sky Trials, the Oregon-Washington joint meet, the California Hawking Club meet and had a great time meeting new falconers.  I have a new apprentice Chris in Fallon.  He is currently building his facilities and getting ready for inspection.  My apprentice Dustin will have his general license in July and has decided to take on a female harris this summer for his new bird.  Can’t wait to fly his bird with my two birds.

I finally got my two harris hawks, Kit and Tanis to fly together and they are simply amazing together to watch.  I had a lot of fun watching Kit get out and hunt again after her broken leg.

The new State regulations are all done.  Getting a final sign off by the Governor and then in January of 2014 we have new regulations finally.

I discovered and am now using a revolutionary transmitter for falconry.  This thing is bad ass.  Here is the link.  http://www.falconryoutfitters.com/equipment/telemetry/satellite-gps-cellular-transmitter.html This is all I use now and  I love it.

I am trying to get my birds to breed and hopefully it all works out.  Ill post more soon.  Keep checking back.

Latest updates

Well, I guess I need to provide some updates so that all my fans and visitors don’t think I fell off the planet. Well the business, http://www.falconryoutfitters.com did pretty good this year. We added some pretty cool camo t-shirts and hats. We now carry some really cool hunting packs made by RIBZ. Kit broke her leg in half in December and is all healed up and getting ready for the 2012 hunting season. My little male harris Tanis had an awesome season and is still molting a bunch for this season. I now also have an anatum that I think will be fun to fly. I can’t wait to get out into the field soon. I have a very possible new apprentice and he will be taking the exam this next week. My current apprentice will be getting his general falconer license in November. I plan to attend the falconry meets in Utah, Idaho, Arizona, California and Oregon this season. I really love meets and I want to get our business name out there more.

Nevada is really close on the federal regulations and we missed the cut off for 2013 year but we will be on target to be done for the 2014 cut off.

I will update more this season with pics and video. Happy hunting.

Corey

Update on stuff

Well, sorry about being bad about posting but here is an update. I have been working hard on the Nevada falconry regulations and we are making some progress. I think the new regs will be ok when we are done. My buddy Brian now has a great little prairie falcon.  Kit my 3 year old harris is molting nicely.  My new tiercel harris will be coming to me in September and i am bored to death to not go hunting.  The store is coming along well.  Ill update more in a while.

Hard at work

Well,
I have busy lately with a lot of things, so it is time for an update on everything.

First:
The new online falconry equipment store that I opened up is doing pretty well. We have a nice add coming up in American Falconry Magazine and I think that will help. The store is now carrying Communications Specialists telemetry. We are also proud to announce that we are the only falconry store that is offering authentic Ron Rollins hoods. These are not knock offs made from his blocks. I worked hard to get Ron back into offering hoods again and to assure that they are authentic, Ron is signing the inside tab of every hood. We are really excited about the progress of the store, so please check it out.

Second:
I went to the Utah Sky Trials in February with two friends and we had a great trip. We made some new friends and we had some sales. I trapped a new female prairie falcon. Her name is Fergie. She is coming along in the process and I am enjoying the challenge of my first falcon. I can’t wait to hunt birds and ducks with her. Kit, my harris hawk, is still doing great chasing jack rabbits. She is up to over 30 this season. I am having a blast with her still and I will keep her for a long time.

Third:
I have been hard at work spearheading the Federal Falconry laws in Nevada on behalf of the State falconers. We really hope to have the laws in place this year. I just went before the Wildlife Commission and spoke to them about the laws. I really think that we made some progress.

Ill be posting more often and I appologize for my lack of blogging.

New Calendar

I am going to be placing items on the new calendar tab as I have or know of events. I hope to turn this new calendar into a place where falconers in Northern Nevada can put items of interest up. Ill start with an event this weekend, the Nevada Wildlife Commission meeting all weekend at 1100 Valley Rd.

Apprentice update.

My apprentice has his red-tail flying 35 feet on a creance. He is having a blast with his new hawk. Should be really fun to get him hunting. Trying 100 foot creance fly tomorrow.
