My apprentice is progressing well.

Well, I am happy to announce that my apprentice’s tiercel red-tail is finally coming 6 feet to the glove. I was really happy to hear when he told me that. Creance work will begin this weekend and we should be making a lot of progress. He jumped at 1054 grams. Should be a great hawk at 1025 or so. I am headed out this weekend every day to hunt my harris. Kit is doing very well and is very anxious.

Doing a lot of presentations lately

I really enjoy talking about the sport of falconry and these amazing birds. Here’s a pic of me giving a presentation to students at Truckee Meadows Community College. (Clearly, they were enthralled 😉

Thanksgiving hawkin….gotta love it!

It was a beautiful day today. Perfect for hawking. Kit and I got out and got a nice jack rabbit. I really do love this time of year. I am working on helping my new apprentice pass his facility inspection on Monday. Headed out to go hawking again tomorrow in a new field that I think will work out nicely. Have a great holiday everyone and happy hawking!!

Dho-Gazza Net worked awesome

Well, I trapped a prairie falcon using my first Dho-Gazza net. It worked like a charm. It worked so well I will be naming it “The Wall” after Chris Wall who made the net!
